I always teach factors using factor trees. This simple concept is fun and engaging, teaches students how to decompose numbers, teaches prime numbers and prime factorization all at once. I will start instruction on factor trees on the first day of school and students will practice them all year long.
- Factor Trees at Math Playground is an interactive site where students can practice factor trees with instant feedback. It's good individual, teacher free practice.
- Mathgoodies.com gives another interactive factor tree game with good instant feedback.
- A collection of 6 cool math games compiled into a printable pdf document (this link comes from the University of Regina).
- Math Illumination factor game (I love the Math Illuminations Site).
- Some very cool printable worksheets provided by BBC.
- A cool site from nrich.maths.org, a collection of some interactive math games to play online.
